Our Team
Although there was interest in starting a FIRST Robotics team in
October it was not until November that we actually received notification
that we had funding and started organizing a team.
We made huge progress in a
very short time of recruiting additional
team members, sponsors, and
mentors.
Since the official kickoff the FIRST
Competition has been an integral part of our technology classes and as
an extracurricular club.
This is the first time that
many of us are seeing a purpose to what we are learning in our science,
math, and technology classes.
Our Communications Class is
designing our t-shirts.
Our Woods class is
constructing our shipping crate.
Our Metals Class has been
fabricating some of the pieces that are being used to build the robot.
Our members have grown in
so many ways including our ability to work as a team, communicate our
ideas, and apply skills that we have learned.
Our Mentors
In a dictionary, a mentor is describes as
"a wise and trusted counselor or teacher." However this definition
greatly underestimates the mentors of Team Robonators. Our mentors can
be better described as a person to go to no matter what you are in need
of.
Our mentors
at Team Robonators can even be described as a second set of parents.
They let us think of ideas and carry them out, but give us helpful hits
to slightly alter our plan to be more efficient or more stable.
Better yet
the factor that makes our mentors the most unique of any is that a
member of our team can visit them with problems that relate to FIRST and
our robot or problems that relate to their own life. Either way a mentor
helps to set us on the right path and helps us hit the ground running.
If you are interested in becoming
a mentor for our team then we encourage to come visit us . Our address
is posted on our homepage.

FIRST
FIRST is an acronym for
Foundation for the Inspiration and Recognition of
Science and Technology. The FIRST vision is to create inspiration in
youth to be more involved and interested in science and technology. The
founder of first, Dean Kamen takes this vision one step further by
stating that the vision of FIRST is
"to transform our culture by creating a world where
science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of
becoming science and technology heroes."
